I just bought two pairs of Infinity Reference speakers, 6x8's. Anybody have any experience with these?

I like them more than the kappa's thanks to a very nice silk dome tweeter, not bright at all. I don't know how you have your system set up but these could be a nice compliment in sq.

Enjoy

I have 3 sets of infinities in my car. I have 6x8 Infinity Reference components in the front doors, Kappas in the rear doors and 6x9 Kappas on the rear deck.

The components are really good, the sound is steady and the highs are clean. I don't hear much of the Kappas in the rear doors, but they are still good, although the component references are better. The rear 6x9s are great, full bass even when I turn off the sub, the highs are good too.

I have Alpine V12 55rms x 4 for the door speakers and Alpine V12 90rms x 2 for the rear 6x9s.

Overall, the infinity makes great speakers, I have Alpine type-Rs in my 325i, they are good too, although no amp there.

I have Sony 6x9s in my Mercury and I can say that after 5 years of usage, they SUCK! Although sounded OK when new.

Great

Two sets of the 6x8's (4 doors) and one set of the 3.5's (console). I love them, listened to almost everything available and they suited MY listening style the best. the pioneers were a little more bassy and the the alpines were a little more "tin-y" (think euro cars). for the price and the difference between the reference and the kappas i couldnt justify going with the kappas. I also have a 10" kicker solo, so i dont need to much bass from the door speakers although with the sub there is a small gap in the sound stage, the 6x8's dont produce mid bass quite like a 5 1/2 or 6+ round speaker would.

I just put them in today. They sound very clean and crisp, hit the high's pretty well. I do need to upgrade the factory amp or something, it's not much louder than the factory volume if at all. Any suggestions on amps?

not much power needed. you only need about 240 watts rms and probably not that much to make them sound good. i picked up a four channel kicker, i think 350.4 on ebay but havent installed it yet. The only reason i got the kicker was because it was identical to my sub amp and matched it more on that. there are lots of amps out there in that range.

Im getting two sets of Infinity Kappa 6x8s for my doors.. I hope they sound good! G.F. bought them for Christmas. Starring at them right now, but cant do a darned thing about it.

Be warned the Kappas are 2 Ohm speakers and could damage the factory head unit after time or aftermarket amp if wired incorrectly. Infinity does make some great speakers but they dont deliver full range of sound very well. The highs are crystal clear but you should plan on adding a sub for the low end.

just my 2¢
