i want to get an ice doubledin/indash whatever, in my LS6, i know there was an option for nav system, can i use that dash piece and fit one behind it to look more OEM and clean ? or is there a better alternative. havn't looked much but ill start looking around the forum now to see what some of you have done.

Kenwood ddx 512 ....installed it in my car I've gotten nothing but compliments on it if I knew how to post an image on here I would show u it.

also thought about putting a small tablet in instead, but dont know how that would work for FM radio and all that jazz.

and i want to still use my steering wheel controls so what brands have the adapter for those, the alpine i had in my gtp had it which still allowed me to use the controls which is a godsend when you have a 50 mile drive to work through detroit where you need to keep a very close eye on other drivers as their skills are not up to par with the rest of the world.

Sorry the pic is huge. I'm on my phone.

Metra dash kits, at sonicelectronix.com, offers both black and silver ones. That would be the kit I would use. It's easier than finding the Nav bezel and making it work.

Go through the double dins on sonic and you'll be able to pick out the ones that come with all the options you're looking for. Personally I would stick with Pioneer, Kenwood, or Alpine. I had the DDX 512 and although it's outdated (discontinued now) the controls were nice. Can only imagine the speed and response you get from the units they have now.

Look up on YouTube the work that is involved with putting a tablet in your dash. Someone on here sorta did it but imo you're better off putting a double din in and call it good. A tablet wasn't designed to be installed into a car dash.

any around that match the oem color of the dash ?

as mentioned above, yes. metra makes two different kits, one with a "b" in the model number (black) and one with a "s" in the model number (silver)

also pioneer, kenwood, jvc, sony and alpine all make DD units that have steering wheel control inputs, you will also want a metra AWSC to make them work.
