If all goes as planned...

Sometime in February I will be buying PROTOTYPE Aftermarket air suspension for the Mark Viii's!

I am not sure if I should even be saying anything about it since it's not even on the market. All I know is I'm getting it cheap, and I mean CHEAP:D

The story goes, that the company designed the suspension and tested it on a Mark Viii for shows and display, then they took the suspension off and sold the car and have the stuff just laying around.

A good buddy of mine that is big into the mini-truck show world is friends with a couple guys from this particular company... and he told them he had a buddy (me) with a mark in need of some new air suspension stuff.. and BAM! The connection was made :D

I'm pretty excited. I am soooo tired of my front bags deflating.

Hmmm... well keep us updated... when you can. And pics will be a plus :)

I will definitley do so. I have been waiting since like October to hear if it was a go on me getting this stuff! lol

Nope, a very reputable Air Ride company... Give ya a hint... I like A.R.T. class :D lol

Better not be Arnott. I would rather have a testicle removed than install their bags on my car.

:lol::lol:

Ha! that was a good one....

No, I'll just say it.

Air Ride Technologies.

Lowrider air suspension should stay on s10s and impalas. Fast bags are GAY. Especially on mark 8's

If it's a real good design, maybe you can show it someone like Eddie at American Air to produce in limited numbers?

What makes this aftermarket one different than the stock? Fast inflate?

There is nothing wrong with fast bags... I think a better aftermarket system with a tank and self leveling would be awesome. Mafioso's car is a perfect example of a well done aftermarket air ride system on a Mark.

No, nothing wrong with them. I just dont think they belong on these cars.. They're supposed to be classy, powerful vehicles. Not some hooped out g ride... Thats why we have ls's :p

how the hell would fast bags make a mark VIII a hooped out G ride???
there are a few fast bagged marks on youtube that look no different than any other mark VIII when raised to normal height, they even have classt wheels, not some 38 inch spinners on them. in my opinion, you would never guess a mark with fast bags if you saw one. i myself was in a mini truck club, well known too, i was in the scene big time for years, i hung with severed ties people, acrophobia people, relaxed atmosphere, praise the lowered, pebble pushers, if i didnt piss away so much money building my fast bagged silverado, and know what kind of money goes into that crap, i'd build a bagged mark VIII in a heart beat, i think marks looks sick as hell layed on the ground. unlike most bagged rides though, you could bag a mark and still keep an awesome ride, my silverado rode like dog crap, but i didnt build it to ride nice, i built it to lay frame and tear up pavement. i still have the itch to do this to a mark, someday i might, buy a good running crappy looking 1st gen, bag on nitrogen with compressor back up, and put a cool paint job on it and just drive it for fun. now that i have this knowledge too, i could bag a mark cheap and easily. i say go for it man, there is a kid in largo near me with a fast bagged 93 and its cool as hell!!

what I dont like about the fast bag systems are that they are "too fast" and too "abrupt".

If they lowered slower and more steady they would be cool.

I dont like the fact that when they adjust the ride height the occupants heads bounce around like those little dogs in the back windows of low riders.

I guess you could limit the bouncyness by putting a smaller orfice on the vent..

I like the smoothness of the spider valves venting, that is about as "fast" as I would want it..personally.

tommy you can make it any speed you want buy either buying smaller valves or reducing the inlet and outlet of the valves and using smaller lines. my chevy had 3/4 inch inlet and dumps on the valves, i used 8 valves total by a company called Danz valves. i had 3/4 inch line running to my bags with 200 psi in the system , two viair 450 100% duty cycle compressors and a 12 gallon 8 port air tank, if layed out, it would hop once if i aired it up all 4 bags at once, or i could make the ass end hop a few times by continueously dumping and filling the rear bags. when i hit the pancake switch on my switchbox it would dump all 4 bags instantly, a 3/4 port is huge, the truck would smash to the ground, and it would scare the piss out of anyone around for 1000 feet! it was a blast.

i think i have some pics of my chevy, i never did finish it though.

One of my friends on the other side of Florida had a frame laying air bag equiped Isuzu. It rode like a dream, had infinite height adjustment combinations, but...... It really sucked when he bumped the wrong switch. KABAM ! ! ! flat on the ground hard, it`s a good thing he wasn`t moving it would have killed his fully painted frame.

i wouldnt have wasted that kind of time or money, i built my truck to drag frame and knock reflectors off the florida roads, the bottom of my frame was chrome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my truck would slam down too, the only time it happend unintentionally was hitting the brakes hard my switch box went off the seat and landed on the tranny tunnel and dumped the driver side of my truck at an intersection, the poeple next to me looked over and moved their car over like my truck was ready to fall apart in the street, their faces we priceless when i reached down and grabbed it and popped the truck back up instantly!! i had 14 1/2 inches of suspension from layed out, to fully aired up, somewhere i have a picture of the truck layed out in the driveway, and raised all the way up, i'm gonna go look for my old picture cd where i saved them and upload them.

as for me...I have know desire to lay frame. I`ve done two silverados and one tahoe with 4f 6r drops and thats good enough.

I'm buying them because they are cheap. ART's stuff is nice, and my friend is good friends with the guys there.... worst case scenario if something goes wrong... Call him. No big deal.

BTW, Jamie, my friend is in Relaxed Atmosphere, I guess you could consider it the Northern Kentucky branch or something? IDK
