$800 and it was mine, the guy sad that the back hadnt aired up for over 2 months. Drove it home, it was very bumpy. I figured if the front had been holding air for two months that it probably wasn't bad bags. I'm guessing that the rear height sensors were out of range, after I lifted it a little it aired right up and all was well.

at some point the back vented entirely on the freeway (20 miles away) and never came back up so i started to tear it apart. I felt real classy driving it around like this for a few days (my 98 was having it's bumper repaired, hit a tire on the freeway :( )

here is the wonderful hand crafted center console door it came with

$3 at the junkyard and all is well

back to the air ride, I decided that I would go ahead and put all of my fastbag stuff on it instead of trying to figure out how to fix it the right way

so after a couple days like this

up1.jpg

and a new dent

93-1.jpg

I ended up with something like this

93-2.jpg

wiring

apart.jpg

everything has quick disconnects but the power and ground

disc.jpg

I should have sanded and painted this while it was out, one is for the compressor in the trunk, the other is to the pressure switch, another will be for the factory air ride switch (havent done that one yet), the last is for whatever, right now it just runs 12v to the back

switches.jpg

the ash tray door had to be ground a bit to shut smoothly

airin5.jpg

not a fan of the huge switch boxes

airin3.jpg

This thing was chrome, my girlfriend and I spent about an hour and a half sanding it before putting about 4 coats of flat black spray paint on it. The lights are a pretty good match to the rest of the displays in the car. The only weird thing is that when you dim the interior lights the voltage drops and makes the display bright again, it needs a full 12v to kick on the dimmer (I just grabbed it from the ashtray light).

I need to get a pic with the trunk cover back on hiding the bottom tank

airin1.jpg

and after all of that hard work I get this...

airin2.jpg

the factory air ride has never done anything wrong at all since I did all of that, not a single error or venting issue. So with the flip of a switch everything runs normally.

Of course I have no pictures of the car up, down, or anywhere in between

I got it all going a few months ago, just never posted pics

That all looks amazing, except for your new dent, luckily its low enough it may not be seen eaily.
Nice work! I'll keep you in mind for when its time to do my Mark, should be.....probably never, though I'd love to.

I'd love for you to do some kind of write-up or at least some more details about your air ride setup. Looks pretty cool. You've got me interested.

I took a ton of pics along the way, they are on another computer though, I'll post some when I go to it

Great post!!!!

One funny ghetto fix
That is classic, the whole thread had me rolling. :D

Fast bags are one mod I will go after.
Where did you get the stuff? got a link?
Total cost?

Just get a working compressor!!!

the stock compressor runs strong, sounds a lot better than the one on my 98, it was probably replaced at some point. The first owner had it up to 100k, I'm guessing that the neglect took place between then and now (150k).

I sucked up a huge mound of ashes from under the center console.

the wheels and tires were a birthday present last december, finally got them mounted and balanced

the exhaust tips will probably be coming off this weekend, too flashy, and they stick out too far

I think it looks good in lowrider mode.

Looks good like that, only thing i would do is find some small hub caps that only cover up the lug nuts....maybe chrome or black.

when doesnt a markviii?
I even like the white and black wheels. your car pulls it off.
+2 looks good.
I like it.

Were are the pics of the fast bag setup?

and also +2 need pics what sized tank you running? so is the fast bag system just a stand alone with its own comp and whatnot, i get the overall setup, just never thought about doing a complete stand alone

there is a 5 gallon tank and a 3 gallon tank with a viar 380 compressor. I'll be adding another compressor when I can. The stock compressor still kicks on and does its thing when the air ride switch is on, if I lower it while driving and the switch is on the stock compressor will pump me back up, I need to wire that switch to the front.

I have a bunch of progress pictures somewhere, I'll post them when I find them.

I finally polished up the headlights I bought a while back. I think I will put them in this weekend, along with the front chrome strip and grill I have

headlights.jpg

I also polished and waxed half of the hood to see how it would look, ignore the splatters on the windshield

as I went to change the lights I realized that the dent in the fender was a bit worse than I originally thought, the header panel had been cracked so I pulled it and the fender so I took some artsy pics
