had an absolute blast! I made 5 passes total, basically all the same way, TC off, OD off, starting from idle, I did turn the heater on a couple times, but the car want running hot or anything so Im not sure if it helped or not.

Being a first time drag racer I didn't do exceptionally well, but I dont think I did bad either. I found myself falling asleep @ the trees a couple times, but thats to be expected. I was just so nervous about red lighting, and i waited to long.

I lined up against some pretty cool cars, and was actually kind of surprised i beat a couple of them, 04 Chevy 1500 ss, 89 Firebird w\ slicks. I also lined up againt a 69 Mach 1, GTO Full chassis car, Abd i cant remember the other one.

Here are a couple of my time slips, go easy on me, remember it was my first time.

I was really hoping to break into the 14's but never made it. I have definitely been bitten by the Drag racing bug, and will be going back VERY soon. Now I just want to do some work to make it run even faster.

I have all 5 races on videotape, but the taping job wasn't real good, and you can't read the times anyways, so here is a pic, just to give you an idea.

That pic would look alot cooler if i actually had my cowl hood on. Expecting to have it next week sometime.

Cool.

I'll be going to the track again soon.

What size are those wheels? Likely the quick way to 14s would be throw your stockers on. Improving your 60' would be another way.

I spend half the day today looking for new tires for my stock wheels. My trunk was completely empty. I'm sure the stereo alone was worth a couple tenths. The race track I went was was Cordova Dragpark. I know some of you guys live up north. We should all try to make a trip up there before the end of the season.

You say you launched from idle. I ran my 93 MK8 at the local 1/8 mile track and found my best time launching from around 2500 rpm.. Didnt empty my car but didnt hardly have any gas. I hotlapped 8 times running against a Ram SRT-10. My best run was 9.73 and that was the 6 th hot lap. (these were back to back nobody in line)

I have always heard that these motors run better when they are "pushed" hard.

When you hot lap or just race alot the oils in the motor trans and rear get hot and very thin thus giving back some frictional losses.Maybe even the forged pistons get hotter and expand more to give a better seal.

we dont have forged anything in our motors.

pretty much the same times I ran when I took my 97. I too was trying to break the 14's but it never happened...
