I shorted out my whole car

I have a 2000 STS and i was putting in another aftermarket cd player. I had all of the wires matched up right and I turn the key to on and made sure it worked and it did and i had some wires taped with electrical tape and i started to put the radio in the dash and my car shorted out but my brake lights still work though I really would be greatful if someone could help me with this problem.

I did and none of the fuses look blown i even bought a new battery and still nothing

i had some wires taped with electrical tape .

you should not use electrical tape...period

I agree, when comes to electrical work especially if the chances of it coming in contact with metal, do not use electrical tape. Buy you an assortment of electrical fittings. I learned my lesson years ago about that.

i would get a digital multimeter set it to continuity and check the fuses anyways.

Cut the exposed wire off and then heat shrink the end of the wire.

Electrical tape does work as long as you wrap it tight and then secure it with a zip tie.
