im thinking about buying an ls but alls i keep hearing is bad things about the trans this and that is this all true i mean they are scaring me away from buying one.. thanks guys..

You can buy mine, I just fixed the trans. and the fuel pump, and the tires, and the clockspring, and the fogged headlights, and the stabilizer bar, bushings, and links, and the vcg's, and coils!

no.. no problems with the LS's.

A wise man on LVC once said " I'd rather have a car with common problems. Common problems have a common fix ". Now, you know of these problems so when you go out looking for one check for these problems. If the car has some of these problems make sure the car is backed by a good warranty. If it is you are more than likely saving the damn thing. Ask that the problems be fixed upon purchase or have them fixed under warranty.

I myself would rather have a car with common problems than some POS like a Neon or something that just puts out some random s*it. No car is perfect and the problems with the LS are not really that bad its just a Luxury car so people and sometimes myself do come to expect more. Most of the problems are a easy fix and after fixed once dont come back to often unless the millage has to show for it.

If you're just worried about how the transmission performs go test drive one and see how you like it.

I love my LS. People who say they are problematic are just whiners, or jealous.

i love my ls so much, i bought another one after it got wrecked out

I have an 05 LS. It has issues occasionally but as was stated before they are problems common to the LS. If you are more of a do it yourself person this is probably a great car for you. No matter what, you're probably getting more bang for the buck than with most other cars. I would rather own a car I have to work on a few times that has a website like this to back it up than some POS no one cares enough to write about. Are you more DIY or a take it to the dealership person?

I guess I'm just bitter because all my "common problems" all happened at an all too common time... at the same time. So when I shelled out over 3k in the last month for a car that I can sell for 5k, it hurt. And I treat her so well. I get no respect I tell ya

Did you do the work yourself or did you take it to the dealership? I have no mechanical background but I've always been able to muttle through my repairs by reading sites like this.

Where you at in Jersey and what kind of money are you looking to spend? Im in the market to sell mine for around 6K.

I say if you like the LS then get one! I don't regret getting mine at all despite the few problems I've experienced (primarily the ignition coils).

Show me a car that doesn't have problems.

IF YOU TAKE CARE OF IT THEN IT WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU !! DON'T TAKE OFF LIKE A MAD MAN ALL THE TIME ! ALWAYS KEEP IT WORKING AN RUNNING WILL like new oil , tran oil

i love it!!!! listen every car you buy is going to have "problems" thats why it is your job to purchase a car that you feel good about, test drive it several times at different speeds, take it to a certified shop and spend 50 bucks to have them look it over, take your time.. do your homework on YOUR car and go from there

Like any vehicle there are some problems that being said there are more factors that enter into the equation. The LS was a fairly advanced vehicle and any time more systems are added the chance for failure can increase. In addition to this, I think most drivers represented here (I think it’s fair to say) are not driving their cars like grandpa would. The Lincoln LS is a fantastic car and a blast to drive. I have always believed in taking care of my car and my car would take care of me. There are some areas that have common problems and therefore common resolutions. I have put 55k miles on my car and I have never really taken it easy; however I would not admit to ragging on it and I have not had to spend much more on my LS than the cars I have had previous. The fun had in spirited driving makes up for the small expenses.

The Lincoln LS is a very safe, comfortable, stylish, fun car to drive and own.

Yeah Baby!

Mine was bought new in 01 still drive it everyday. Lots of money into it. But man, I love this car. The handling is great, ride fantastic, styling wonderful, paint and body great, engine great, components junk (but easy to replace). Its just your basic luxury car, everything is expensive, but parts prices are coming down.
