i need Mark VIII info.. PLEASE!!!

im trying to get collector/showcar insurance for my 96.. one problem.. i have to prove that it is a limited production model .. ..

where can i find such info??...

my buddy got it for his 96 mystic cobra..

another buddy got denied for his 96 cobra convertable..

they said it wasnt limited enough..

i need some sort of certification or something from lincoln stated how many 96 mark viii lsc/ diamond anniversary were produced

The Diamond Anniversary were not a "limited production", it was a trim package option as far as I know. And as far as I know, these generally do not qualify. There needs to be a limited production number pre-set before production or there needs to be a limited run of special hardware/powertrain options. Generally this means that each will have a designated number, similar to the 98 Collectors Edition.

I thought 96LSCes were preset before procuction. I thought/read somewhere, not sure if it was true. I believe 5000 were to be made. Not sure if that included the late 95s or not.

My 98F150 Nascar Truck was a 3000 run. Similar concept.
 
If It Is A Lower Mileage Car You Have A Better Chance. The Only Reason Why They Let Me Put Collector Ins. On My 96lsc Is Because Of The Low Mileage.
 
My 85 T-Bird FILA edition was one of 35 given to FILA and Ford Execs with with 30th Anniversary badging. It was a stinker to get the collector car insurance as the VIN had it as a FILA model with a special Ford Disct Code. The FILA had some 3000 models. I had to get a letter from Ford as to the production run - it took me a year to finally get it. Even with pictures of the dash plaque which had #14 it didn't say 14 of 35, it had to have a production run and had to be either less than 2000 or 1% of total production, which ever was less. I am sure different carriers have different rules on how they deal with this but just my 2 cents. oh and I was limited to 500 miles or less per year, could not drive except for state safety inspection, car show, once a month for maintenance or any time repair was performed.

as far as i knew.. werent all 96's considered diamond anniv. because of the 75 year thing.... but mine is a LSC.. which to my knowledge is limited production.. also.. i believe someone told me that 96 had the lowest number of lsc's produced...

try not to argue gentlemen...

Limited means there is a limit on how many were produced. If I buy a limited print painting, I will own, for example, #325 out of 500. Another analogy is a speed limit. A limit is a pre-defined figure. "Production was limited to....."

Special means extra options, packages etc that are or can be added but there is no pre-set LIMIT on the number of these packages. This is like the collectors edition of the 98. Ford did not say "we are producing only 300", they produced as many as could be sold. "Its believed only XXX were made...."

Now a 96 with the DA package would NOT be limited, but instead "rare" so it should still be able to get the insurance if the milage is low, etc...

If I have to make it any clearer I will have to teach some basic english!
 
Does your 96 have the Diamond aniversary trim? If not then it's not a "real" diamond aniversary. I belive that all 96's are listed as diamond aniversary just as many catologs and insurance companies will have the 93-95 listed as LSC. I'm pretty sure that the diamond package has burgandy trim in the middle of the upper seats, a diamond on the rear side windows & a plaque with a diamond on it that came with the car.

it does not have these things so i guess its not a diamond anniv. edition..

if they all came with burgundy trim.. then thank god its not

but it IS a TRUE LSC... with only 74k.. i dont see why it would be a problem.. especially since ill only be putting about 2500 miles a year on her

so i guess what i need is the number of true 1996 LSC's

That last sentence was uncalled for clown

DA's were only on the MK8, Conti, and town car, other packages were offered/made in this year obviously, and that means they are limited.

For all you know, there was 1,500 Mark VIII diamond anniversaries made, 40,000 town cars, and 3,000,000 contis

And another way of saying it would be... "It [Mark VIII] was limited to XXX total [Due to none other be purchased]" Meaning it is limited edition [Diamond Anniversary Edition]

And your "analogy" wasn't an analogy at all...

I can only assume the above was sarcasm.

I only say that, because by you definition of "It [Mark VIII] was limited to XXX total [Due to none other be purchased]" means that EVERYTHING is limited. Because if production is stopped, then its becomes limited. "[Due to none other be purchased". So EVERYTHING is limited?

So I now own a limited production 1996 Mark VIII base. And when people ask "What makes it limited", I will tell them that only enough were made to sell.

limited; adjective; RESTRICTED in size, amount, or extent; few, small, or short : a limited number of places are available | special offers available for a limited period | the legislation has had a limited effect.

By definition limited is a restricted amount. Lets look up restrict.
verb [ trans. ] PUT A LIMIT ON; keep under control : some roads may have to be closed at peak times to restrict the number of visitors.

So that would mean that "limited production" would mean that a RESTRICTION was placed on the run.

The DA package was LIMITED to the 96 Lincolns but NOT limited in itself to each model. When talking about a "limited production" one refers generally to the model being discussed. There was no RESTRICTION placed n the number that could be produced.

I can NOT spell this out any simpler, but if I have to, I will.
 
what company are you guys using for collectors insurance?


my VR4 only had a few hundred made for 97 and it is very low mileage.

the cobra only has 16k but considering its color it is far from limited. the mark has 33k on it but i doubt it would meet the requirements too.
 
I wish you luck! I'm sure that somebody will insure it for you with the type of coverage you want. Keep checking around. I have Gieco (full coverage) on my 95, They keep advising me that it is not cost effective to carry full coverage on a 95 Mark VIII since the parts are so expensive to replace. Chances are that if there is any more than $2,500 in damage they would just total it and pay low book. I still carry it though just for the peace of mind.

Prior to the Mark I had a 85.5 & 86 Mustang SVO that I had insured through American Family Ins. They told me that the rarity of a Mustang SVO in mint condition didn't matter, To them it was just a basic mustang and the SVO didn't mean squat!!!

I think you will need to find a company that only deals with classic cars, Either that or just get full coverage and document the mileage, mechanical condition & take lots of DETAILED pics just in case of a collision or vandlisim. I would install a kill switch as well in a hidden location seperate from the alarm so a thief is less likely to get it.

I think that the 96 Mark LSC is by far the best for many reasons! Congrats!!!

im just sick of seeing a thread started by someone only to be hijacked by 2 or 3 guys who start arguing about something and the whole reason for the thread gets lost in the process...

it accomplishes NOTHING

so if youre not gonna post due to "MY ATTITUDE".. well,.. i guess you wont be posting much since there seems to be attitude in EVERY thread
 
I dont think there is a number out there for that. If I had to guess based on what I have seen out there, less than 20%. I cant find an LSC build number and I am not sure it exists.

the insurance company is askng for that.... i guess ill have to try and squeek in by using the fact that my title reads lsc/diamond anniversary edition .. and hope they accept that.. and that alone
