I might be wrong (ranting thread)

If ima pay 40 a day for a rental it better be a 5.0 mustang at least.

Haha good luck. I think that's about the average right for something like a Taurus. I checked into it because I would have needed on had I taken it anywhere else but the dealer.

Clearly you have never rented a car with any frequency...

I've driven tons of rentals I just never had to pay for them because the government did.

Silverado 1500, cobalt, Camry hybrid, impala, Malibu, and E350 4x4 are some of the recent ones.

*Edit I would love to drive a van around for a day or two.

Those E350's haul ass for being big ol boats. They have some decent power and torque. Then again it's basically a superduty.

Can only imagine. My brother's 6.0 PSD was like a rocket before it needed head gaskets, been sitting now for about 6 months. It would be a site to see a big ol' van rollin' coal.

I manage the maintenance on Enterprise Fleet vehicles. A typical trans service usually just consists of a drain and fill....We usually just do a flush/fluid exchange at around 50,000 miles.
They probably should have have asked, but I wouldn't say they did anything wrong.

my $.02... I dont think its a problem since scheduled maintenance didnt call for it, but a good dealer/ service rep would have thought about it and reviewed that with you for the up sell.... My service guy would have at least called me and asked if i was willing to purchase a trany service with the swap... specially on this kind of repair.

Now that I think about it.... IF this was called into me at work, the advisor would have wanted to do a Filter AND a flush, and a a cooling system service, spark plugs, tire roation and balance, and a fuel system service, and a power steering flush, and a brake flush, and......etc etc etc. LOL. I shoot down probably 50 up-sells a day. It's amazing how hard some shops push services that aren't even close to due. If the tires are at 4/32, they try to tell us that they are unsafe, and that the driver is going to die. lol. Good times!

true...depending on the dealer... but a common since sell is a trany F&F sell. most of us would have taken it....
