Hello again, So I own a 2001 LS v6 auto.
I'm converting the hydro fan to electric due to overheating problems.

I'm also trying to get some more power & hp Out of my ls.
I know I know it's a v6 and I should've opt'd for the v8 but I got my LS for a steal,
And dont want to give her up. Now I know it's tricks and things that can be done to make my v6 more aggressive, for God's sake I've seen people beef up 4 cyl.
I want to be able to rav my engine with a growl not like what it does now. I want to be able to spin my tires without it being wet outside.

So with that being said everything on my car is stock except my door speakers.
I plan on lowering the front a Lil so it has a slight tilt on it.
I also want to put in a cold air induction. Super or turbo charging her but
idk I want to boost her performance non charged 1st. So any tips, advice, or hints
Would be greatly appreciated.

Also is it true you can use lower gas? Premium is kinda kicking my ass! Smh!

If you're looking for a CIA, they are a bit hard to find for the V6. Really not too much you can do other than make sure she gets 92 OCT, regularly do maintenance and keep her in the best possible shape. There have been a few on here who have put turbos and I even believe a supercharger, however it's a very large trial and error process filled with lots of custom work. Not sure if you're experienced with that sort of stuff but If you are I say go for it.

LOL, premium is kicking your ass but you want to Turbo it ... hahahha, sorry couldn't resist.

On the electric fan conversion, I'm always for unloading a hydraulic fan for electric but are you certain that is the cause of the overheating?

The usual performance enhancers are a free flowing exhaust, headers (if you can find them, good luck), the cold air intake, and a computer reprogram (if anyone is programming V6s). You might also change the wheels, try to find a lighter wheel/tire combo than you have now. Losing one pound of unsprung weight will have the same effect as removing about 7 pounds of sprung weight on handling, and a lighter wheel/tire combo will be easier to turn, therefore can be made to turn at a faster speed delta, than a heavier wheel/tire package.

If you wanted to go deep, I would have to wonder if a 2009+ cam set for a Jaguar XF would work in the car, since that car is supposed to have the same V6 (same family, anyway) but makes 240HP and 221TQ vs the 2001 LS that makes 210HP and 220TQ. While the cam may fit, the HP gain may be due to a variable valvetrain vs just the cams so there's no telling if it would help much, or help enough to justify the cost and labor to buy and install. You could also stroke and bore the engine as more cubes means more power, but again you need to find a programmer.

Another alternative would be to fix that car up as nice as you can and try to sell it at a profit, then buy a Gen 2 V8.

In any case, the LS is very sensitive to octane, and some members have been having engine problems after running 2-3 tanks of 87. You might try backing off to 89, but don't be surprised if you aren't having problems after a few tanks.
