#7 misfire 02 LS 60K. Had to return (tune) to stock before diagnostic equipment would work. The car is cooling off now. In a few minutes I will pull the coil and see if it has oil on it. I do have the black VC gaskets.
 
UPDATE: Pulled coil. No oil in well-completely clean. I will replace the one coil and see how it goes.
 
might as well replace the other coils on that side as well. that is, if you are trying to achieve maximum efficiency for the work you have done.

If I have another coil failure I will replace all 8. I am having surgery monday and dont want to spend too much money.
 
understandable. you will have another coil failure, its just a matter of miles and time.
 
I replaced the #7 coil and the car runs GREAT! Thanks for the resources on this site.
 
Buddy you sound just like I do. My friend bought a LS around the same time I did but I haven't seen him for years until a few months after both of our purchases. Eventually he starts telling me how messed up everything is and this and that and I say " well I ain't gonna have that problem, I take care of my car. I get every scheduled routine maintenance by the book' low and behold just after I say that,.... sput, sput, sput down the high way I go. Then it all hit me at once.
Airbag lights, window regulator all coils, 2 on the drivers side the first time, a week or more later all of em just after I thought WOW they did it right this time bam I had to get all of them replaced. Then it was the sun roof, blah blah blah, I had just about every TSB in the book happen so far and thankfully it was covered so I got it easy but after all is said and done................................................................................................................





I LOVE THIS DAMN CAR!



And the warranty it had come with, now I just wish I could find another...lol

To be honest I have had to work on my LS more than any other newer car I have ever had. Autowipers, airbag, airbag, airbag, coil, and now DCCV. I also discovered that my driver's seat is partially broken.....but.....I love this car a lot. I really do, and if I didn't I would have gotten rid of it already. I will continue to own and repair it! What happened to your sunroof?
 
I opened it and some part broke sending pieces flying in at me, then the one metal rod swung down and stuck me in my head. I keep forgetting about the drivers side heated seat that I had replaced when I just got the car. They didn't fix that till spring then it was to warm to use it. Now some how its broken again go figure. Oh well I found that if I used it over the summer with the AC on it during road trips.

I still never fixed my center console from the first trip to the dealership the week after I got the damn car, thats when the heated seat went.... Oh and my SST didn't work either when I bought it... lol.

Cant really blame the car, it would never had been in and out so many times if the jerks did what they were supposed to the right way. Oh and when I bought mine I got the famous line, " It was a dealers car here at the lot. Babied it from the start and I was his friend so I would know, he he. " What a crock. Ha ha.:lol:
 
Thats funny, I fixed my drivers seat heater when I got my car at 19K. I replaced it myelf.

did you have a CEL? I've got a coil that is failing (misfires about once every 3 days under hard acceleration) but dont have a CEL yet.

It did not throw a CEL. It threw a pending code in mode 6 or something. With the aftermarket tune, it did not report a pending code either. I think you can pull the code if it is pending even if it didnt throw a CEL.
