I have an 04 Ls V8. about a week ago,the engines did this little rattle and stalled when i accelerated it and then it wouldn't let me accelerated anymore. The ECT fails safe mode came on and the car was going about 5 mph tops. I had to turn it off and turn it back on to be able to drive it again but it kept doing it at randoms times. anybody experience this before? some people have said the throttle control isn't working right and somebody else said the coils. but i dont want to guess and spend unnecessary money.any help is appreciated.
I have engine problems, any suggestions?

Have the codes pulled at AutoZone and take it from there.
As NYC suggested, get the codes read. It could be an ETC (Electronic Throttle Control) failure, but it's more common for that to be a failing coil #4. In one of the failure modes for a coil, it will emit EM interference; because of coil #4's proximity to the PCM, this interference is sometimes picked up as a (false) ETC failure code, which triggers the ETC Failsafe mode.
If you're handy, swap coil #4 (passenger side rear-most) with coil #5 (driver side front-most) and see if the problem goes away. If it does, you almost certainly have a bad coil causing the problem.
