So, my screen on my Kenwood DDX7015 hasn't wanted to slide down to put in a new cd for like 6 months. I didn't really worry about, since I really only play my ipod anyways, but the kid has been wanting to watch movies, so I figured I'd try fixing it.
First, I started removing screws to disassemble. I removed the top screws that hold the top of the faceplate to the unit (this also has some tiny ass plastic bushings, which I lost, and had to search for a couple hours on the garage floor to find them.) This released the top of the faceplate, allowing me to fold it down about a half inch. No help there. After that, I found the issue (or what I thought it was). The bolt on one of the bottom slide arms was completely removed. But there is no way to get to it. There is a black palstic frame that goes right over the top of the bolt. So I grab my trusty dremel, and drill a hole just above the bolt head so I could reinsert the bolt.
got everything back together (those screws are SMALL. Probably took me 45 minutes to reinstall the plastic bushings and screws.), and it works partly now, but still will not open/close properly. Like something is still out of alignment or something.
Ready to throw this thing against the wall...
And on top of that, I ripped a wire somehow right before the inline fuse. Only left about 1/8" of wire going into the fuse box. Now I gotta sauter too.
