I have a 2005 LS V8. Went to Auto Zone and had codes pulled yesterday because CEL, misfire and occasional ETC Failsafe. They gave me P0357 and P0303. I know p0357 is ignition coil g and p0303 is misfire on cylinder 3 but does that mean that ignition coil g is on cylinder three? I ordered the set of 8 ignition coils on Ebay today so I've got those on the way. Anything else I should look at replacing?

Interesting... I also have an 05 V8 and my engine light just came on. I've got 17k on it. Sometimes when I accelerate, it hesitates. I didn't know Autozone could pull codes...Thought I would have to make an expensive trip to the dealership.

Pull the coil and look into the plug well for signs of oil. You may even see some on the coil's boot. if you have oil on it, you're gonna need a passenger side valve cover gasket, new coil and new spark plug. If no oil, replace the coil and plug.

hope that helps

I drove up to the store and 5 minutes later walked out with printed codes and possible causes. Didn't cost a penny. My car has 60k miles now so I'm expecting to have issues like this. Auto Zone or anyone else who can pull the codes will save you a lot.

Thanks. I opened up the coil covers yesterday. No oil in the wells. Just wanted to get the hang of it before the coils come in. I pulled the #7 coil and spark plug while I was in there. The electrode looked like it was crooked. I'll have to post a pic of it when I get home. What I mean is the metal peice that curves off the bottom of the plug was thicker on one side than the other. I don't know if that's normal or not.

Does anyone know which cylinder coil G is on? Is it cylinder 7? P0357 is supposed to be coil g I think but I also mave a misfire on 3.

Im gonna bring this thread back up cause i just experienced the same two codes. I replaced the coil for cylinder 3 and cleared the codes. I have been driving for about 1/2 the day today and the check engine light has yet to return for the p0357 code. Should I be concerned about this code? Does it coincide with the p0303 code? I have an 05 V8, just hit 42000 miles today.
