Has anyone had experience dealing with a bad hydrolic pump and fan on their LS or know how major of a fix it is? Of course, I've been looking for a replacement engine on my LS. But in the process I ran across a similar V8 LS that is up for auction today on a mechanic's lien. I just checked it out and the pump and fan are bad on the car. Other than that, they guy only owed $100 for the diagnostic but know owes the dealership $900 for storage fees since he never got the car back. If I can grab and fix that LS for less than changing my engine, I may just go for it. But, even the manager at the dealership said it could be a costly repair. Input please. The auction is at 4 p.m. ET

There are tons of threads on this already. Just search them. It doesn't sound too bad if you can get it for cheap. Then you can just part the car out and make your money back, if not more. Good luck.

Oops, I did forget to search. Seems like a common problem with the V8's. Also, I misspelled the pump too. This Title company is being shakey about getting back to me on the auction. But, I may give it a shot if it's just a few hundred dollars. That's common about the dealership putting a mechanic's lien on a car for just $100 too.

when you read those threads you'll see that it's not a technically difficult repair but very time consuming and working in small cramped places - so it's the labour that is the big$ in the repair.
