Hydraulic Fan issue

Ok so I haven't really found anything to answer what I need....I got this 02 LS V8 and the fan is locked up tight...I even checked my buddies 00 and I can spin his right around with the car off. Mine I can't move at all....I'm sure I'll need to replace the fan itself but what about the pump? I'm not really familiar with how these work and I don't want to have to buy 400 dollars in parts if they're not needed....thanks for any help.
 
You seem to know your stuff....probably needs charged but when I turned the a/c on when coming home tonight it blows pretty hot....does this have to do with that dccv thing or just an AC issue?

Not cooled = AC issue.
Heated = DCCV issue.

You may get some more info by running the DATC self test and reporting any codes returned. ( key on, hold off and floor simultaneously then touch auto button)
 
Its definitely heated. It was 60 last night and with the ac set to 60 it close to cooked me out like. ....thanks a ton. ...I'll check tonight
 
Unless the ac compressor fuse is blown, which could lead to a compressor/clutch problem or a DCCV issue. If the fuse is blown, you not generate any cool air as the compressor is not working. Is the fuse blown??

If the fuse is blown, if will be blown due to a shorted DCCV, so either way the DCCV would need to be replaced.

That fuse being blown would result in no AC compressor, and full heat on both sides due to the DCCV being unpowered (open).

My was blown because the ac clutch was blown, read the thread again if you don't remember. I had already replaced the DCCV and the fuse was still blowing which ended up being the ac clutch was bad, replacing that and compressor fixed the issue not replacing the DCCV again. Its not always the DCCV.

You are certainly right about that. However, this is an advice forum and with his symptoms, pointing at the DCCV seems to be right over 90% of the time.

If the OP has the right instruments (mainly a DMM), then there are a few dozen tests to be done to determine for certain where the problem is.

My issues always seems to be the other 10%. If the DCCV hasn't been changed its probably a good thing to change, check it off the list and move on from there.
