I recently noticed a humming noise coming from the rear (interior) of my car when the car is in reverse or drive. Noise goes away immediately when in park.

What could this be ?

Is the noise only when moving, or is it there when in gear, but sitting still?

First thought is exhaust system vibration.

When in gear at idle or moving. Side note: just changed upper radiator hose and the sound is gone...But that has nothing to do with it right ?

Could it have something to do with the audio system or a fan?

I guess you need to get someone back there and have them locate the source.

Is the solenoid assembly causing this noise? I heard the noise in the rear though so that wouldn't make much sense. Based on this, what do you think?

Like I said, you need to find out where the noise is really coming from first, before any speculation on what the cause is.

This could be a normal noise from the transmission solenoid pack when in reverse or forward at a stop. More described as a "buzzing" or "whine"... an more noticeable when within the closed confines of a garage or small building
