Got a question on #8 in this process. Do I remove the cage from the inside of the thrust washer completely? The wing's have all been chiseled off. I just want to know if I need to remove this part off completely.

Thks

edit: also: do you use any of the old washers when putting the hub back on?

HUH? :eek::confused:

#8 in what instructions?

Just remove the entire caged nut with a 36mm socket and then use a new one when putting on the new hub.

Sorry meant to post the link.

I ended up putting the thrust washer back in there then used the new nut.

Well, that's just wrong, those instructions should be deleted. :eek:

I wonder why people insist on making things way harder than they are? You simply remove the nut with a 36mm socket and then replace it with a new one from Ford.

And there's no reason to grease the spindle either, a little wd-40 maybe, but the hub doesn't spin on the spindle. :confused:

Don't tell me I need to take the thing back off and take the thrust washer out. Drove ok last night, but I'm doing the backs today if I can get the hubs from oreilly's/autozone and will pull that thrust washer out of the front if I should.

If it works, don't fix it. But I wouldn't use anything other than Ford nuts on the F&R hubs not those aftermarket POS's.
