Hey,I wanted to ask a question about changing the transmission filter on my 2004 Lincoln LS 3.9L.I have been having a problem in 5th gear going up hills and taking off from stops, the car starts slipping a little until I shift to 4th then the problem stops.I have been driving in 4th now to prevent this.I am almost certain it is a transmission problem.I am new to these cars and have just found out there is no dipstick, after a week of looking.I would like to change the transmission filter as well as the fluid. My question is when I do drain the fluid and change the filter do I need a special tool to put the new fluid back in or can I use some kind of pump device to pump it back in through the drain plug.I can't really afford to let Ford fix it right now,so if there is a way to do it without going through Ford I would like to try.Any advice or info. on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,Younggun38.

Shoot me a PM with your e-mail, I can send you the Ford Factory procedures for flushing the tranny.

To do this you don't need any special tools. I did a write up on it here. Just look for it it might help you out in the change.
