Just received the sway bar bushings for my 02 LSE. I did a bit of searching and this is what I have found. First I need to remove the bottom engine cover. For the driver side I remove the airbox and I can get the top bolt of the bushing from above using a few extensions and a swivel. The lower bolt you can get from below. Grease and lube up bushing and install.

Now for the passenger side I need to remove two bolts for the DCCV mount. One screws from the front going back and the other goes outboard from the center. This will allow me to move the DCCV out of the way to get to the bolts. Looks like I still go down from the top with extensions to get the top bolt and the then get the bottom bolt from below. You can correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Now the real question, how long would you say it will take knowing how it's done in advance and that every thing goes fairly smoothly?

Thanks in advance.:)

Anybody, anybody, Beuller, Beuller??????

So no one has any idea of how long it would take?

Thanks, now at least I have an idea of how much time it will be. Granted it could be a bit more or maybe less.

Took me about 8 hours total. But over half of that was deducting how to get to that front bushing bolt on the passenger side, as I was trying to get to it from under the car. Another 2 hours was wasted on me loosening the DCCV bolts themselves..vs following the DVD instruction to loosen the DCCV BRACKET bolt. The former leaves the DCCV bracket in place (which blocks that front bushing bolt)..the latter allows the bracket AND the DCCV to move out of the way. Also, make sure you have both sides of the car lifted in the air equally. If you only have one side up at a time, the sway bar is angled and puts a lot of pressure on the bushing, making it almost impossible to remove/install the new one.

and make sure you torque the bolts down REAL good. Or else, you'll be back up under there a week later investigating a knock/thump when making turns.

Thanks for all your help guys. My friend who has his own shop (old gas station with lift, air, etc...) is on the road until the 17th. Maybe I can get the bushing on that weekend when he's home. I will have to remember to take my digital camera and take some photos of how it's done so I can help others who need to do this because is seems to be a pretty common problem.

I have had my 02 LSE for a couple of weeks and just love it. People sure comment on the nice looking car. No Lincoln dealerships around here so there are maybe 3-4 Lincoln LS's in town and I'm the only one with an LSE.
