I'm having my transmission serviced in a few weeks and was wondering if anyone has experience with the amount of fluid needed. I've read total capacity is 14.0qts, does that much come out with this type of service?

I'm having it done in a few weeks because I'm running Auto RX in it now, you're supposed to change it after 1000 miles or so. I'll also be using Amsoil ATF for the service.

Thanks in advance.

Ya.... the ONLY difference is the Vic has a bigger cooler.... but they don't hold much anyways.

BTW, have you put the ARX in the engine yet?

I also recommend putting it in the transmission next time it's due for a service, trans seems to be shifting really well.

I ran 1500 miles with ARX in the engine with some Oreily's 5w30, now I have put 1500 miles on with no ARX and Valvoline 5w30 and will be changing the oil, cutting open all the filter and reevaluating if I am going to give it a second dose.

I only did 1500.... I didn't know the current condition of my motor, and was doing a 3000 mile round trip so I changed the oil and put it in when I left, and didn't want to go 3000 on the cleaning phase...

I might do another full treatment cylce and go the full 2500 on the clean and 3000 on the rinse.

I totally forgot that I should do the 1-2 accumulator upgrade while the pan is off. Anyone know what this might run at a fair shop?

Just got a quote for a trans service plus 1-2 upgrade(wish I could do it myself but I don't really have the tools).

Anyways:

Labor- 170.00(trans service, 1-2 upgrade labor)
Amsoil Fluid- 100.00
1-2 Upgrade Parts- 51.50(don't know if this is a current price)
Filter Kit: 25.00(estimated)

I'm looking at roughly 350.00, parts, labor and the Amsoil Fluid.

The labor seems reasonable, does this seem like a good price overall?

One more question on this:

I can get Motorcraft Mercon V for 4.29/qt. It's good stuff yeah?

I've heard it is..... Merc V is expensive regardless....

I'm planning on putting Motorcraft Merc V in my trans when I get around to servicing it... lols

I was originally looking into Amsoil ATF, but I'm looking at 120.00 w/ shipping and everything vs. like 60.00 for the Motorcraft.

Yep, and I'm not a fan of multi spec tranny fluids.... you KNOW that Motorcraft Mercron V meets all the 4r70w's needs to a T....
