Hello fellas,

Just wanted to see if I am not overpaying too much. I get it for $615 shipped. What did you pay for yours delivered?

Lou got his all custom made for like 400 something I think. Maybe you should try that route.

Anything less than $600 is a steal on the Magnaflow systems for the 00-02 LS. Magnaflow just had a big price increase on all systems the first of the year and with them holding MAP (minimum advertised price) guidelines for retailers it's almost hard to compete with guys selling them for less than cost. Especially, if they are holding OLD stock. Retail for the system is $922.99 and shipping can cost anywhere from $60-$100 due to weight and size of the box. The price we have it listed at on our website is the MAP pricing and we can not advertise it for a penny less.

From what my Magnaflow rep is telling me is that the price of steel is so high and fuel costs rising makes it almost impossible to make any money off of the systems. Also, they are cracking down hard an ANY retailer adverstising any Magnaflow items below MAP. Now, you can sell it for whatever you want but if you advertise it for less that what they want you to advertise it for you won't be selling Magnaflow products any longer.

Now, like I said earlier if you can find a Magnaflow system for $600 or less then you need to buy it. That price is less than what we pay for it.

$480ish w/tax. I know people.

I would say its worth it to a point...then just get a custom system made. Its Mandrel bent and is almost seemless and well done. My only complaint was they mis advertise it as 2.5" when its only a 2.25" system. And when brought to there attention the retard that I ended up talking to about it had no clue... never probably changed his own oil. Thats common though in the industry to have the sales rep that never touched the part pretend to know something. He was suppossedly a tech guy...really honestly a bad rep for Magna Flow, I have alot of there products and that sticks with me though.

If you can't get it for $500ish go custom. And that comes from a guy that has had it on his car for about 2 1/2yrs and 50k.

I wonder if any real R&D went into the MagnaFlow system for our cars...

Anyone have dynos?

Yes, they had my car for a week. This was about 6 years ago and I have no idea what happened to the dyno slips. IIRC, due to the differences in pipe size, the V6 got ~13hp and the V8 ~10hp. They tried different size mufflers and resonators tuning the sound. They figured with a simple exhaust the horsepower numbers were pretty good. The flow engineers name was Mike, I don't remember his last name.

So I'm assuming the 2.25" piping was better for power than 2.5"?

I think 2.5" mandrel bent on a gen 1 would result in a significant low end torque loss. probably be better at the track though. 2 1/4" probably opened her up just enough.

Yes. They said 2.5 (at least on the V6) wouldn't allow enough back pressure. It's not like a diesel where the bigger pipes are better.

Cool then I am gonna get 13 horses. I ordered the one with 615 shipped. Thanks for the replies guys.
