I've been contemplating doing my suspension - and converting to coils. The air ride is cool and all but when i can get strut rod bushings, sway bar bushings and links, and all of the control arms locally at Oreilly's for $263 (T-bird items) it makes me want to convert to coils as the mark 8 items are $420 from Rockauto.

How much can a working air ride setup go for? Mine works properly from what I can tell, but it does need a front suspension overhaul. I figure since this isn't a DD for me I can yank the air ride components out and sell them.

Any ideas?

Used air ride stuff isn't worth much, and we only have to look to American Air for replacement costs which are reasonable.

my bags seem fine but I think the front shocks are done - so Add in the stuff i need + 2 new air struts and I'm looking at 786

Use the t-bird stuff and coils I'm looking at 705

The only thing different from the tbird is the upper control arm for the Mark VIII have a clip for the air ride sensor on them. The other stuff you mentioned should not be any different whether you have air ride or coils. So the price should not be that different or not different at all if your not doing the upper control arms.

Frogman and Roadboss are right. You might get lucky but new replacements are not that expensive an alternative.

I like the air ride and if your only looking at an $81 difference it wouldn't be a question for me personally.

Exactly.

The parts are all the same and really should price out the same. Thats assuming your getting MOOG or TRW, anything else seems to bend and rust. Price quality brands, not OE Brand or others like you find on eBay. If the t-bird stuff is cheaper for some reason, buy that but buy name brand. As mentioned only the upper control arms are specific to the Mark and thats because of the air-ride height sensor stud. Although if you can weld you could remove them from the older ones and put them on new t-bird ones easily.

Good calls! I suppose i won't be a baby about it and just go with the air ride.

I have had a good experiance with American Air as well. I am goingt o order new fronts soon and I have been meaning to call Ediie to see if he will be making any Spider extreme valves soon.
