Went to "Crutchfield's" website just looking at some a/v options. I input my vehicle info and a drop down menu gave me three options to check. The choices were as follows: 1. 4 speakers, 2. 12 speakers, or 3. nav system. I have an '03 LS V8 Premium Sport. I can count a speaker grill in each of the 4 doors and two speakers on the front console in the knee kick area. I would suspect there are 2 speakers in the rear lid which would be a total of 8 speakers. Are there 4 hidden somewhere I didn't think to look or is Crutchfield techs smoking something?

I was confused about that myself when I bought the car. The door speakers are 2-way, so they are counted twice.

Yeah, you have the 12-speaker system. There are two "imaging" speakers on the sides of the center console; four 2-way speakers (each counted as two speakers), one in each door; and two 6x9 subwoofers in the package tray (under the rear glass). That adds up to a total of 12 speakers.

FWIW, the THX-certified Navigation system only has ten speakers because the THX engineers deleted the center console imaging speakers.

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly does "imaging" & "2-way" indicate?

2-way speakers have two speaker cones and drivers. I think the LS's 2-way speakers have a mid-range and a tweeter, but don't quote me on that. (I'm not an audio expert, so I'm sure some of our real experts will correct any inaccuracies.)

"Imaging speakers" are what Lincoln calls the speakers on the sides of the center console. There's nothing special about the speakers themselves; they're just used for the DSP (digital signal processing) modes.
