Soon I will be replacing the spark plugs, coils and possibly the vcg. i just want to know if it's truly that important. You think all repair shops do it? Thank you

dont go by repair shops because maybe 1 out of 5 do it, and yes it is important. you could put 87 octane in your car but would you want to. 99% of tire shops just use the air gun to put your wheels back on, they should be torqued as well.

Lately I run 1 tank 87, 1 tank 92 / 93 just to save some cash. But I also have a case of octane boost laying around so it almost equals out.

I always am told to come back to get them torqued again, I do it myself with my friends torque wrench. 100 ft/lbs if I remember right...

do it. they are there for a reason - especially on suspension, engine, ...etc - basically anything that spins fast.

now the plugs and VCG don't spin - but on the VCG bolts - too loose and it will leak, too tight and you risk breaking a bolt off in the head ( = no fun).

it is truely amazing the math behind these numbers.

well - here is a greatr article on octane boosters - http://www.europeancarweb.com/tech/0503ec_octane_boosters_tested/index.html

@ $0.15 a gallon cheaper = 18 gallons = savings of $2.70

one bottle of octane booster that is to treat 18 gallons = $11.99

...... glad you had it lying around.

please rethink this!! You could be harming your engine and its not worth a few bucks.

15 gal x $3.00 (93 octane) = $45
15 gal x $2.75 (87 octane) = 41.25

the difference is only $3.75, and I hardly ever put in 15 gallons at once! It is ultimately your decision, but you've bought a nice car so why short it what it needs for 4 bucks a week?

yep - great mind think alike.. and all that.... plus I'm 'Quik' yo

+1. But I always put in about 15 gallons every time. I get drive until the low fuel warning comes on, then fill up that day.
