Hey guys,

I have a 2003 V6 and the engine is quite dirty. It has a lot of grease and residue on it and I want to clean it. Can I simply spray some degreaser on it and then rinse it off with a hose or will that F' things up?

Thanks!

Plastice bag over the fuse box and CAI filter, mist the motor then spray on simple green scrub with my tire brush and mist rinse.

I use a product called Optimum Power Clean. I dilute it 3:1 (3 parts water, 1 part produt) in a spray bottle, and spray down the engine (air filter, alternator, etc. are avoided. I use a round brush (I suppose a paint brush, toothbrush, etc. would work too) to agitate the surface. Then I have a second spray bottle with distilled water that I use to rinse the engine. Using a spray bottle instead of a hose assures that I don't flood any area.

I use cheap microfibers from target to dry the engine.

Once done, I use Meguiar's #40 Vinyl/rubber protectant to dress all the engine plastics/hoses.
