I want to remove the check engine light bulb. Does anyone know how to get back behind the gauges? Do I have to take the whole dash off? And how do I do that?

I'm assuming he's going to try to sell it like that lol, or pass emissions(which pulling the bulb would not help at all).

I want it out because I need to replace my CAT on the drivers side. But I dont want to spend the 600 bucks+ to fix something that doesnt effect the performance of my car at all. Ive already got it checked out by the dealer and my mechanic and they both said that its not plugged or anything that would harm the engine. I will get around to fixing it eventually but I just bought the car and I would rather put that money towards other things right now. That light is just damn annoying and I dont wanna see it.

it probably tells the little black box or something that the light is disabled. just do what homer simpson does....put tape over it. if you cant see it, its not there

Ive already done that, but the glass sits an inch or so away from the light so it blocks it for me but you can see it from the back and passenger seat. Its not a huge deal but I just figured if someone knew how to get back there then it would look alot cleaner if i removed the bulb.
Hey I just thought of something. If only one of your cats is showing bad you could probably reroute the SIGNAL WIRE from the cat efficiency monitor (rear 02) sensor over to the good side. That way both sides would show same (good) efficiency to the pcm./...

My brother had a 2001 Camaro Z28 that the original 36,000 mile warranty had been out on, but the cats were still covered under a separate warranty, find out if yours are covered.

Yes it does cost $600 roughly to replace, that is factory though. After market I hear is about half the cost.

unfortunately my coverage was up about 10,000 km ago.
Ive tried looking up CATs to buy online and I found some that are around 200 bucks. That would be good, then I would try to install it myself (im guessing it cant be too hard). But the only thing is that I live in Canada and im not sure if they would be different parts because of different emission standards? Ive tried some canadian sites but they dont have any in stock and I cant order.

Just buy a Rear 02 Sesor Simulator. Google them, you'll find them.

Most new dashes have lights that are soldered in as part of an integrated circiut. You can't just unplug it but you may be able to slip a piece of thick paper like bristleboard between the face and the case to block the light.
An 02 simm would work best for you fooling the pcm into thinking the cat is fine.
