how do I remove the black trim around a gen 2 side mirror?

A few months ago I was driving through :shifty: an automatic car wash... it decided to rip that trim piece halfway off, afterwards I pushed it back on but it is still very loose. It rattles as I drive, it just so happens that I have a spare side mirror minus the glass in my garage...

Is there anyway to carefully remove and replace that trim piece or would I have better luck changing mirrors and swapping the glass?

there is a long story as to why the car was won't be paying for it

you have to pop the glass off first, inside the housings are torques screws holding the black trim on the mirror. the glass gently pops off.
