Well boys (and girls) Took my 03 LS to the dealer for the second time for a hot insulation smell. First time tech went out with me and we couldn't smell it. This time I reported that I only smell it after several hours with the headlights on. After a bit of discussion the service manager told me that it was probably electrical grease in the switch which was heating up (supposedly normal). I was told that there probably couldnt be a fire from this since the switch only runs on 5 (five) volts. Anyone know if that is true? After asking if they could examine the switch for heat damage I was told that perhaps they could replace the switch. Had to wait a day for the switch but they changed it out and I am now with a different switch that I presume is new. It turns with less force that the original. I have not had the opportunity todrive a few hours with the lights on yet. Will report the results when I get in some road time.
