Holy crap, my old ride!

ROFL w/ Robot, too funny!
I'd trade my hair for my job back, that's about it.

I actually liked the louvers. They kept the sun down in that huge greenhouse, which made it more comfortable for the kids. Plus the car didn't have air conditioning from the factory, believe it or not. No idea why my brother bought a car with no AC, think it was a little passive aggressiveness because he bought it for his wife who was a real beeotch.

Remember when you wanted to clean the glass you had to prop the louvers up just like you did as if it was a hood, had the hold up stick and all. I remember mine was rubbing on something and was starting to wear a mark on the glass or something, off it came!

I have a walk around on video of the Z28 but it was VHS format and i'll be damned if I know what happened to it, think it's over at my folks place buried in a box somewhere.

Same tape that has a white water rafting trip on it, I remember that much. would be fun to watch again I'm sure.

PS: I was born in 1967 folks !!! sad but true !!!

I used to work in a big plant in my mid twenties, Digital Equipment of Canada,
back in the days when the 75 and 100Mhz processors were the big thing.
Oh and then there was my Mono chrome colored monitor powered by an Apple II E,
use to load and save games from cassette until the floppy came along. f*ck me !!!

Still actually have two of them over in my parents basement, wonder what they'd fetch on Ebay these days.

My very first car ever was a VW Rabbit with a house speaker in the backseat.
Buddy from high school and me drove to Toronto to see 'GENESIS' in concert.

GENESIS - That's All - YouTube

Also sad but true !!!

I loved Genesis. I still listen to Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins.

Do you remember how the cute blonde chicks used to drive around in the VW Rabbit Convertibles (Cabriolet)?

I was born in 1967 too.

Haha ... back in the early 80's, I had my first job pumping gas at a Texaco Station after school,
used to rod around on a Honda CJ360T. Looked something like this,

cj36036.jpg

Leaded fuel was around 23-27cents per litre. Minimum wage was like 2.65hr or close to it
and it used to cost me around 3 dollars to fill the tank and lasted a good week or so.

Ofcourse this was many years before my Camaro Z28 days.

Robot, did you around that time, in high school, ever do any punch card programming in Computer class using these stupid things ?

card-90col.gif

and then came along the GOTO line programming,

FortranProg.jpg

... long way, we've come.

I remember the first computer I used was an old Apple IIc with a green screen. I used Fredwriter, a typing program and played Oregon Trail. I still have a few 5 1/4 floppys from 1987 when I was 11!!

Thanks to this thread I had to dig for them!

Oregon Trail, where I learned what dysentery was, or at least the fact that you can die from it. Instant classic.

Oregon Trail!

Bad water lose 1 day

Everyone in your party has died.

Man! I hated those damn punch cards! I was so glad when we finally got the VIC 20s. We were in high cotton then sitting there in my Alligator IZOD shirt with the sweater draped around my neck and wearing my Top Siders.

RE: the punch card programming, talk about things they force you to learn in school and never end up using. Actually the only resemblance would have been using a time punch card to punch in and out from work, so I guess it did somewhat come in handy.

I never wore that crap in the 80s. My look was 501 jeans with white leather running shoes and a button down shirt and aviator sunglasses. Sometimes I wore a loose tie with it. Think of a blonde Steve Dallas from Bloom County.

All I can remember anyone else wearing was the hot girls in the Dolphin shorts with the cheeks hanging out and the halter tops with the Bass sandals.

The awesome thing about those old floppys is you could buy the one-sided disks and turn them into two-sided disks. Just cut a notch into the side without a notch and bam! Twice the storage!

Yes, I remember doing that, write on the back side of same disk. what was that, like 512K X2 LOL, I recall getting the notch in the wrong spots couple of times until I got the hang of it. And then when you wanted the floppy write protected, you had to place tape over the notch. Crazy times I tell ya.

Yes, I can remember there being something that interfered with seeing the chicks nekked, but never paid attention to any labels on their clothes. We had a special name for the boys that knew the labels on the girl's clothes, especially if they knew the shoe designer's name.

Oh yes, that is what I had on this disk. My teacher had a special tool that slipped over the top that notched it perfectly.

I'd really like to know what I had on this disk........I have about 10 of them. ;)

We would just hold two disks back to back as a template, and cut them with an exacto.

@BigRig - the piece of tape write protection - priceless!

Correction on the 512K x 2 LOL

actually,
5.25" Single Side - 160KB
5.25" Double Side - 360KB
5.25" Double Side High Density - 1.2MB

And they actually used to sell these silver tape tabs you would use to write protect the disk.

Yeah but I was in La Mesa and sometimes we had to buy them as gifts and then we got to take them off of them too.

Btw, the shorts had a little label on them and the sandals had a little brass oval plate on the straps.
