You have HID lights, and larger than factory rims that require higher replacement cost for these parts....

Question: Why? Why spend higher than average for tires? why lower your ride quality? and why increase you expenses?

Smartmouth answer: I can afford to do so.... That's great but still, why did you do it

Well, HID lights have a higher light output for safety so they are obviously worth the price if you have trouble seeing at night.

Different wheels, on the other hand, can have their pro's and con's. Some wheels are more lightweight than others, some are wider to house wider tires for traction purposes, and some are for appearance. Different wheels and their respective use can sometimes take it to the extreme, but to each their own.

I do it cause I think it makes the car look more to my taste. Its how I wanted it to look and how I feel it should have looked. Some others may feel the same.

HID's would be a more expensive replacement if they had the shorter lifespan like halogens. But HID's in a proper environment should last the life of the vehicle.

Larger wheels with smaller sidewall tires will improve performance in spirited driving conditions (bringing your car to a road coarse). I think that by simple inching up 1 or 2 clicks isn't sacrificing the type of ride quality you may think.

But to answer your question about the wheels, I did it for 2 reasons:

1: The 19's I have look awesome. After the lowering springs, she'll be about right.

2: Now I have a dedicated set of snow wheels/tires (the 17" stockers)

And about the HID's:

1: Better visibility

2: They were on sale - 125 per pair from Umnitza. Kind of hard to beat that for the expected useful life.

I also have HIDS because they both look great, and give me improved visibility for night driving :p Don't have rims yet but when I get them It'll be because I like the way they'll make my car look :shifty:

+1. Lincoln was after a tinge of performance with this car. Should've got at least 18" wheels.

I had the HIDs on the LS I wrecked, and going to the normal headlights the new one has was quite a shock after all that time with HID. They really really make a huge difference at night. I would hate to have to replace them though, it is a lot for a light bulb.

For the rims it's all about looks. I haven't put anything on mine yet because of money, but I'd sure like to. Rims make a huge difference, and most factory ones range from suck to acceptable, they are never awesome.

I've thought about buying rims as well but i keep thinking about damaging a rim and having to buy another. I don't drive slow to dodge all pot-holes...

So how rims have you damaged?

An earily simmilar ebay LS

I always wondered what the turn signal bowls would look like painted to match rather than just black like mine but this is terrible.

Why are people putting this much effort into these things then selling them for way less than what it must have totaled out to?

Is it cause after they see the images they created come true they vomit themselves?

EDIT: .....Jessus Christ My bad this Google chrome browser sucks. I wanted this as a new topic.

I had another tab open, clicked new topic and it closed before I noticed it. I was viewing this one in another tab sooo..... I dont know what the hell happened!

:q:q:q:q!

EDIT AGAIN: Well I could have swore I had the latest hub thread open, I guess this post can fit in this thread:D :shifty:

why is 93 better than 89?, why is the sky blue?, why are boobs good?, They just are

I've damaged stock wheels, too. Doesn't matter what you have around here, they WILL get bent from the potholes. I've even blown out two stock 17" tires.

Got Damn, what do you be doing!

Back in '72 I damaged a new rim. I hit a broken-out piece of curb laying in the street.

Although I like the look of the 18s (Verde) I put on, my intent was to be able to go to 245-45 ZR 18 Michelin Pilot P2s. The increase in handling on an otherwise stock Sport suspension was very surprising.

The same can be asked about purchasing an LS in general. A Yugo has a much lower replacement cost. So, why by an LS instead of a Yugo? What about a unicycle? Those are cheap.

I'll take the LS, thanks.

Just wanted to know your reason. You can now pour out that pissy cup of coffee you were sipping

Actually, depending on where you purchase the items, sometimes aftermarket can be cheaper than a factory replacement. I'm sure we've all been to the dealers.

Sorry if I came off pissy. Not my intent. Smart-ass yes, pissy no.
