I have '02 STS. I have noticed that when in park if I rev the engine it will cut out at approximately 4000RPM. Does anyone know if this is an intentional protection feature?

GM has been doing that since at least 1998. My dads Cavalier has the same feature.

It keeps those old people from doing an all out neutral drop when they hit gas after forgeting to put it in gear. j/k
