My JL 1000/1 amp with 2ea JL12w7's are dimming my lights. Even with a 5 farad alumpro cap, it still dims. I need to upgrade my alternator the proper way with out messing anything up. I heard that too high of an alternator amps causes your car to not idle properly. Does anybody know where to get and what size alternator for the amount of amps I'm currently running with my JL's? Also, what size wire do I install? The help is much appreciated.

i may have the same problem. my lights dont dim though (maybe cuz theyre HID?)...instead, my battery light lights up and i get the "CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM" warning. it doesnt stay on for more than 45sec-1min though. if i turn the stereo down a bit it doesnt come back up. also, the guage on my cap shows the batterys fine (goes up to like 14-15 when started and 12 when its off). any ideas?

If you'll search, Quik posted info on the only high-output alternator for the LS. IIRC, it's from Ohio Generator, or something like that.

hey man i have 2 jl 1000/1 1 300/4 2 12w7s 2 yellow top optima batteries i batcap 400 210 amp alternator run all 0 gauge wire and my lights still get a slight dim. to let you know in car audio theres no way you could stop dimming but you could minimize it.

i agree, not sure if lights dim though with HID's since they require such minimal current.
