High output altenator

I've seen quite a few threads on this but not a lot of follow up. We've had a really hot days pretty much everywhere in the country so far this year. Just wondering for those of you who have upgraded to an aftermarket high output how is it holding up and which one you are running?
 
I looked at db electrical but they have quite a few bad reviews and found a company called power bastards, can't find much info on them.
 
i have recently had a bad experience with db electrical. was buying a starter for a piece of equipment we have called an asv. the first one was my fault i ordered the incorrect starter, they promptly sent me another one, it was bad, so i ordered the 3rd one correctly and they sent me a miss packaged one right number on the box wrong one on the starter. now fourth time is a charm. i have had i on for less than a week with no problems so far. if it was even half the job as a mark i would have freaked out on them BAD.
 
I have the standard 130a from them. So far so good. And for 100 bucks brand new it can't be beat. My voltage is steady at 14.2 when warm..I however noticed that my int lights tend to dim when i roll down the windows ect. Never noticed it with my 130k one(iirc,13.5 charging rate, 13v w/ accessories on). The db maintains it voltage but still dims for some reason..Kinda annoying. Though it could just be that I never noticed it before..

I'm using the TFF-7773D from Tuff Stuff Performance. It's a 200 amp chrome unit.
This is the second year with it.. had the diodes replaced this year. That was probably my fault.. I let the battery go dead and then let the alternator charge it instead of using a charger.
 
I installed a 200 amp DB Electrical alternator in my Mark almost 5 years ago, about $215 shipped and not a single problem-you need to install a heavier wire from the positive post on alt to the positive battery post. Still have my original 130 amp that I took off, there was nothing wrong with it, I just felt like more capacity is a good thing on a car with these power demands. Over the years, as wiring deteriorates, having more capacity is a good thing.
 
I went with a tuff stuff 150amp alternator from summit racing. The only problem I had was that I ordered a black powdercoated one and they sent me a chrome one. I wasnt going to argue because I didnt mind the chrome one.

That was going to be my question.

Our cars don't really car for low voltage, bought a new battery as the one I had was getting weak.
The battery would sit at 12.6 to 12.7 all day and start the car fine, after started it would jump to 13.7v. Not the 14.4 I'd like to see but not bad.
If you have anything on other than the radio the voltage slowly drops to 11.9 and the car runs like poo!
Same thing happens with the new one, time for a new altenator.

Do it asap so it doesn't kill the new battery as well ;)
 
You should be pulling 14v, and yes a bad alt will kill a batt.

Happened to my 93.

I installed a 130 amp cobra alt from max, and new batt.
Fixed it for me.
 
I got a good voltage increase by just changing the terminals and taking a metal brush to the ends of the wires to get the crud off.
