Hey guys, I just picked up a 2002 Lincoln ls premium sport I do believe and I am wanting to do a few things to make it look better on the outside. I was wondering who makes a good brand of HID headlights and if you guys have any opinions be welcome to throw them in

as far as brands I know a lot of people have different brands. I do not have them but I looked into and do not order from HID world, they are not authorized to ship to america. I ordered from there and mine got seized by customs. Luckily I got my money back

Next you are going to get told all about glare. You do not have the correct light buckets for HID's. There for they will not aim properly. Not I know a lot of people do it anyways and have not had any issue with it.

I am sure more people will chime in with more details.

You guys were right people won't read it, but doesn't it make it so much easier for those of that end of doing the searching for them.

glare, who cares.<------------lol (just to tone it down ;))

i have xentec brand. no problems so far with mine, had them in for around 1 year. i got them off of ebay.

others use ddm tuning

Sorry, I'm new to this but thank you. And there is the car, 7,500 for that with only 60,000 miles. I'd like to think I got a good deal.

don't worry everyone on here was new at some point and they all got "hazed" a little. if you can stand your early hazing and "initiation" you will do fine. It our way weeding out the bad apples.

Well I would like to say Welcome To LVC :W to :V

Next just be sure to search your question in the sticky first there is a ton of information there that will save you time and getting bitched at.

It's not that we aren't friendly but I am sure you wouldn't want to answer the same question everyday or so.

Have fun and be sure to post more pics, we like pics :shifty:

low miles, cool. i got mine 3 yrs ago for 6800 with 74k. (damn i had this for a while haha)

what do you want your car to look like? sporty, luxury, tricked out?

That doesn't look like a sport model ls (not even sure if they made a "premium sport" 1 gen). Do u have woodgrain on shifter or steering wheel?

Id like it to look clean but yet somewhat tricked out, if that makes any sense at all.

No woodgrain on shifter nor steering wheel, from what I seen they did make a premium sport only in 2002 and that's it.

I have successfully eliminated a good 90% of the glare, while also getting a clean cut off line using the OEM 2gen HID bulb shields on my 1gen headlights.

Have to modify them to get the shields sitting closer to the reflector bowl, then I will have eliminated all of the glare/vertical light.

In '02, Premium Sport had the Sport suspension goodies and 17" wheels, but chrome bumpers, wood steering wheel and standard shifter. Also had perforated seats.

do you like the chrome on the bumpers, grille, and rear surround? if no, color match it.
do you like front lips, but dont want it too obvious that its there? put on a home depot lip (my sig has one, Manoli also has one, and Pektel has one-the originator lol)
like window tint? tint the windshield----jk on that one...or am i?
eibach lowering springs to close up that wheel gap.
LED tag lights make the rear look more luxury imo (i love mine-5k led from vleds.com)
custom floor mats....so much more
angel eyes...remove the amber from the headlights...led or hid reverse

As for the chrome I dont mine the chrome on the bumers, but how would you go about this color matching? But angel eyes are one of the first on my list actually. And that black grill has definately gotta go.

Nope.
You have to change the reflector bowl too. It is shaped very differently from the halogen one.

Thank you Joe. I'm glad you stepped in to correct the MISinformation.
Perhaps a refresher session is order and all who give advice need to do their homework.
Speaking of which I think someone skipped out on doing theirs in grammar school.:shifty:

I understand that, and the light output is down compared to a stock gen 2 HID headlight.

But I've dramatically cut down on the stray light and the glare caused by it.

The OEM HID reflectors are a bit more shallow than the halogen reflectors, and have a different pattern to them.

Just because the reflectors are different doesn't mean it can't be done.

I understand that the halogen bowl is not set up for the HID bulb, I understand it creates light in a different position, and with different directionality compared to the halogen bulbs, however, my goal was to decrease glare while still having increased light output compared to the factory halogen setup. I wasn't trying to mimic the factory HID lights, nor was I trying to attain the same amount of light output.

I have been working on a better bulb shield for the past couple of weeks, and it will be going in when I pull my headlights apart again in about a month.
