hey i have 6k aftermarket kit on my gen 1 ls. they work fine when the car is off, but when ive been driving for a while they start to flicker and now its flickering alot and bugging me. I read that putting a capacitor in there would help, anybody wanna confirm this or tell me what else i should do. Also when i turn them on, they flash really bright for a split second then go to the normal level, is this normal? thanks

Jay, sounds like a failing ballast. The Xetronic system I got from Ken had a ballast fail (the light wouldn't light at all) and he warrantied it.

The HIDs generally fire bright, dim some, then settle down.

orr, you need better quality ballasts...or you need relays. I HAD to use relays when using that system. I went to OEM HIDs and no relays were needed.

same thing happened to me its the ballast there a pain in the ass went through 2 already once you replace them the flickering will stop

yup, one of mine flickered until i got a replacement ballast. if you buy cheap kits, you might as well expect this sooner or later

no buying a cheap kit isnt tru i got a kit for 130 and both of my ballast blew when my friend payed 75 for a kit and his ballasts are still both good

sure they are still both good, for now.

and yes it is very true that the aftermarket "cheap" kits are no where near the quality of the "expensive" OEM parts
