k.... i just bought my lincoln ls and ive decided to buy a hid conversion kit for it(yes its off ebay). I was just wondering since the battery is in the trunk do i have to run a power wire from the trunk to the front or is there a +12v source under the hood anywhere? This kinda sucks...any help would be great:)

If you buy a quality kit there isn't any need to hook up to the battery. The ballast and igniter should mount somewhere under the hood and the light hooks up like the stock light bulb which is where it get its power. Hope this helps. I have done two kits now, and neither have needed anything other than what I just said.

+1, you might want to further research HID kit's in general and then make a judgment call on the quality of the ones your thinking of buying

I got one of them to light up(looks freakin' awsome) but the other is flickering and makin a popin noise.

Is the ballast correctly grounded? I have a trail tech HID light kit on my 4 wheeler and when the ballast wasn't grounded correctly it made a popping noise.

The popping noise is probably the ballast trying to fire. I would check the power and ground connections, make sure you have enough power going to the ballast and if it still does not power on, then the ballast is bad and needs to be replaced.

How do you ground the ballast? Is it something inside it thats makin it not work? The other one is just sitting there and it is workin fine. Could it be the bulb maybe? I hate screwin with this stuff. I now have a dead battery....guess ill work on them in the morning, thanks for the help:)

The Ballast has a positive and negative lead, the positive goes to battery or whatever source for power and the negative goes to ground. If you are just wiring it up to the stock headlight harness, do realize that the power it takes to ignite the ballast is usually more than the harnesses are rated at. In previous vehicles, I have always wired the ballast directly to the battery or a true power source.

It was the bulb. I went to this shop that sells hid kits locally and bought 2 new bulbs. I went with 6000k insted of the 8000k i had previosly ordered. Looks alot better and isn't as ricey. Oh, I also bought some white L.E.D fogs. I also ordered a McClarren grille of Ebay, should be here friday:D
