HID conversion complete! also have stock bulb 4 sale

Colin:

Sent you a PM and a message via ebay email. Did you get them?
Thanks.....

There might be a delay in future kits, the guy selling the $550 ebay kits is having his lawyer try to put me out of business. I will update you guys on the status.

The hell?

If he cockblocks you, just release the how-to and let people make their own.

Are you infringing on actual copyrights this guy might have? I'm sure he hasn't patented the kit...

He claims to have a patent pending, and that I am infringing it. I highly doubt that, I designed all the parts in my kit for use on my own mark viii so who knows. He shows pictures of his adapter plate and mine is nothing close to what he is using. Gonna have to wait and see what it all boils down to.

Oh please... If they are nothing similar, he's full of it. Pay a lawyer 1000 bucks, and send him after this guy. I'm sure the lawyer can come up with a few accusations of his own.

I'm thinking it's just an intimidation tactic. Does he have patents on the screws he's using? How about the wires? Better yet, the bulbs?

yeah, I think I am going to play it out and see what happens. Worse case I will hire a lawyer of my own.

You should ask the guy if he knows how a market economy works....

I just don't understand how he could justify getting a laywer, it will probably destroy his entire profits for the entire time he has been selling his kits.

Too bad someone who can help our hobby has to ba an a$$ - it hurts all of us in the long run. Hope things work out for the better...

I bought a set of these off of 04SSHD, and ended up selling my Mark VIII before being able to install them. Please PM me if you need a set.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but both you and this car-part-hunter guy are both just taking $100 HID kits, fabricating an adapter plate for a couple bucks, and selling them for a crapload of money, right? Or am I missing something?

NEED HID Light kit for my Son's 1997 LSC

My Son just turned 16 and together we purchased his 1st car, a 1997 White 84,000 mile LSC.:)
He loves the car, but right low beam was burned out. Little did we know what a mess and expense it is to fix the headlight.
He is working part-time and when he came home from work last night, he indicated that the left side low beam is now gone as well.
Is it possible that a relay, inline fuse or something is burned out? Any suggestions as to how to troubleshoot?
I have been watching EBAY, but find it painfull to take $400 to $550 from my Son to fix such a stupid and otherwise inexpensive thing.
I have researched 04SSHD's kits, but have not seen what the adapter plate looks like. Those of you that have seen or used them, are they well made and do they work right?
:) :) Someone please help me and my Son get through this without breaking the bank.

Thanks

Welcome to the ever wornderful world of the car we all love the Lincoln Mark VIII. No inline fuses will work. You will come to find the bulb actually burned out. It happend to my 97 on the passenger side. You can find bulbs being sold on ebay that will go for around $170. You have to remove the entire housing. It is not hard at all. Can't say much about the conversion that 04SSHD has for sale.

This is going to sound like a silly question... but I've got a GenI with HIDs. I see you're only listing this kit as one for GenIIs, but what is different about the GenI HIDs that it may or may not work?

Here's a question that is increasingly relevant-

Does this conversion enable to buy regular, generic 9005 bulbs into the future? So, after these bulbs burn out, we can purchase regular HID replacement bulbs and they'll fit without any problems?

This is to address a claim made in another thread. I'm wondering if that after this conversion we'll be have easy bulb replacements for the rest of the cars life?

If my eyes don't deceive me, he's using D2S bulbs. My local parts store can order them next day for $138, and they're widely available cheaper online. But there's something nice about knowing I can walk into my parts store and have a headlight waiting for me the next day, which offers me a lot more peace of mind than my current what-if-one-burns-out-before-they're-available-again mindset, which has just turned into oh-crud-I-can't-get-headlights-anymore.

yes, they are d2s bulbs, and you can find them online for like 25-30 $ each, maybe even cheaper than that since i looked last about 2 months ago..

Should fit a Gen1, I have never tried it but from my understanding the gen 1 uses the same bulb as the gen 2 Mark VIII's

It actually uses a generic 9006 HID bulb that is readily available, I can get you replacement bulbs at $35 a bulb including shipping. The bulbs in my kit are found in just about every after market HID kit on the market, I highly doubt there will be a shortage anytime soon.

That is correct, they are D2S style HID bulbs.

Is the focal point off with this kit like the other one being sold on ebay for more money?
