Hi Pektel
Have you ever tried Meg NXT Tech wax? I put two coats on this week and Ive never seen the paint look this good. I wash my car about 5 times a week and nothing seems to last. I love doing a nice hand wax and then spraying it down with Meg Qwik detailer. Im like you I cant drive a dirty car. I cant find any o/c products other than Megs or Mothers, wax or polish. I live in CNJ and cant find any places that stock anything. I allways thought I lived in the center of the world. LOL. Wanted to get the rear bumper shot this moth till the pass door lock actuator went south. Good Luck
P.S. I own an 04 and Im restoring the car already.

CNJ, care to elaborate on that, is that in the US or what??

If you want a wax that lasts get some Colonite 845.... or some FK1000 sealant...

I used that stuff. still do if someone asks me to do a job for them like a family member or a neighbor.

Did you use the hard wax? I put it on with my bare hands, Im talking no applicator just my hands. Its good for something anyone can find in any store but you'll find lots of cooler things when Pete replies with one of his magical links.

Hi Kustm I live in Central N.J. and can not find anything other than wax or polish sold at the chains, I would think that there would be stores in the area that would cater to :q:q:q:q:q:q:qs like me. Funny thing is I worked in N.Y.C. for twenty years and if I ever had a hard to find part I could always open the N.Y.C. Yellow Pages and find anything. I guess Mothers and Megs have all the shelf spce tied up. Pete and Kustom enijoy your weekend.

funny thing is Pete hasn't ersponded yet...maybe he's at the pub scoring chicks with his LS :P

Last I talked with Pete he was busting ass on a Lexus... lol

Yeap. At least it's got soft clear coat. It's got a 3M clear protective bra on it that he's using 106ff on I believe.

Detailer's domain carries 845, which is the wax you're probably looking for.

I shoulda taken pictures of that beast. 2006 Lexus GX470, jet black, and dealer-induced swirls/holograms all over. The customer was really pleased though. She said it looked better than when she picked it up at the dealer :D

But man that paint was soft. And the 3M protection was even softer.

I used CWC/ONR mixed for the wash, Sonus Green clay with ONR as lube, tires, wheel wells got Meg's super degreaser (wheel wells got 4 hits of degreaser to get all the caked on crap out.)

Wheels, headlights, and taillights got duragloss 105. tires got optimum optibond (diluted a little stronger than 1:1). Glass was claybarred, cleaned with lusso glass polish, and treated with duragloss aquawax.

Paint surfaces received Chemical Guy's EZ Creme Glaze, followed by 845.

Interior was in very good shape, so It only got touched up. leather got Lexol (I'm not using leather masters when I'm only getting paid 75 for the interior), plastics received Meg's #40. Dash board/nav screen/guage cluster got Einszett cockpit premium. All solid wood pieces polished with Klasse AIO.

And no before/after pics. I spent like 8 hours on the car, and didn't want to waste time on pictures. Plus, I was only paid 150 for the job. But she has 3 other vehicles that she is making appointments for, so I can't complain :D

To the OP, Meg's NXT 2.0 is a fine wax for OTC. I have never used it, so I can't comment on it's durability. But in the pictures I've seen, it does look very nice.

As far as OTC products, go visit a local Carquest and see if they carry duragloss. I have yet to find a product of theirs I don't like.

Oh, and there are other guys that know their isht about detailing here too :D

KD00LS has been at it longer than me, and kustomizingkid is catching up REAL fast :D

Well thanks there Pete, even though you blew past me on nubas...

How'd the clear bra go? What was your process?

Is 75 a good deal from a friend for a full in and out detail.

Answer: Depends...

I wouldn't let anyone touch my car that doesn't know what they are doing, or uses poor products...

If that $75 includes and claying or paint correction I'd be very leary as they might have no clue what they are doing and do more damage than good.

But $75 for exterior OR interior is cheap, hence the worry...

I didn't spend a huge amount of time on the clearbra. I tried the PC with 106FA on white. took out maybe 40% of the defects. I tried 85rd on 3M UK blue on the Makita, didn't dent it. I just went back to the PC/106/white for the rest. She wasn't paying for paint correction, so I didn't want to get too carried away.

Oh, and just because I bought more nubas, doesnt mean I know more than you. Just that I spent more money on carnauba waxes. That's it.

I wish I knew more than someone... I'm so lost it's not even funny...

I'm thinking of just selling everything and switching to the Bob Hubbard method...

Well even if you don't you can still pretend! There's no way to say who really knows more. People have been doing it for 30 years, but doing it wrong for 30 years....

LMAO. It comes quick...kinda. I have a very active interest in it and I'm logged onto the site 20+ times a day.
