Friend came over this morning and brought over this little goody as he needed one for the tune on his truck. Yay!

I'm having a 171,174 code that I think is IMRC problem but I also have a stumble for a couple minutes after I start my car so I suspected either the pump or something else to do with gas.

Here's the pic. My questions is: Is the Fuel Injection Pump Tester from Harbor Freight any good?

I drove the car around with the pump taped to my windshield and It didn't look like it went very high... def. not in the 35-40 range. I got up to 45mph.

I wouldn't trust that gauge to check water pressure in a garden hose.

eh. the stuff from harbor freight is cheap, but its probably ok. if you have doubt, just find a higher quality gauge and put it on that hose thing.

anyway, that pressure is too low. should be low 30s at idle. low 40s at wot or with the regulator vacuum unhooked.
if you're fuel filter is new, its pump time i'm thinking,

That's what I'm thinking. Fuel filter is under a year and I'm having the stumble every time I start the car. Last night it actually died.

My friend put it on his truck and it read 25% lower than it should have (not 50% like on mine) but he's having his truck tuned and the guy is suspecting the fuel pump of actually being an issue.

My '93 was having issues issues like that before i wrecked it. Unfortunately i hadnt had a chance to diagnose it.... soon as i started it, it would fumble and sputter a bit, and sometimes die. If i mashed the throttle a few times before it died it would run ok. No codes for me though.

My car did this a couple days ago. I think I had my heat full blast upon startup, I wanna say it leveled out when I turned it off.

I returned two of those before deciding to just get my money back

there is no adjustment to set the needle to zero, they were both off by about 7psi at 0

too frustrating to deal with

I did however buy a super cheap obd2 scanner, it works great (bought it for my cadillac, my mark viii hasn't thrown a code in 5 years)

I think I paid 49.99 after my coupon, probably 6 months ago
