Here is the Cobra Intake swap for 1st Gen.

That's an old pic I actually don't have the polished intake anymore, blew it up from a nitrous puddling in the intake. WOT throttle switch malfunctioned and for some dumb reason my nitrous switch was armed, started running rich as hell and I didn't notice the switch being armed. Black smoke started coming out the exhaust. I pulled over, turned off the motor and looked under neath the hood. Nothing looked out of place, started it back up and BOOM. Almost gave me a heart attack.

Only ran it NA with the current setup a few times, could not beat the 14.0 but the MPH was a bit higher.

In similar conditions (DA around 1200), I went from high 14.2's @ 94.xx MPH to high 13.8's @ nearly 100 MPH (99.97). My best with the stock intake was 14.037 @ 98.46 (DA -825). My Cobra intake is stock, I didn't even port match it (yet). I did however, install an Accufab TB, IMRC deletes, and 30 lb. injectors when I did the swap. Still breathing through the stock air box with a K&N filter. Nothing else was changed, same exhaust, TC, gears, and tires. Stock pulleys. You do the math. :p

I went from 13.855 @ 99.97 (6/07/2011 - DA 1464) to 13.590 @ 102.36 the next week (6/16/2011 - DA 1059) with a single change in the tune.

Then further tuning (and better air) got me down to 13.472 @ 102.33 (DA -614 into a slight headwind). Total improvement = .562 seconds and 3.87 MPH

And there's still more to come...... ;)
OK, you have me questioning my wanting to sell my Cobra intake setup.
Maybe I will sit it out and have it installed along with a 3400-3600 stall converter.
My Mark VIII has project has stalled since the summer when I bought my '11 Frontier 4x4 6pd, but I would like to get it back on the road with some more mods.

Absolutely keep the Cobra intake.

Well, clearly, you know my opinion on the subject.

It all comes down to what you want out of the car, and what you're willing to do and spend to get there.

Well said, as you pointed out in a different post.....there is a reason the inlet of the cobra is were it is. " I think it was you but it might be that DFL guy ;)

Hmm, I suppose you could use a cobra wiring harness, then it would make things way easier. Not sure if it has the same 10mm bolt, with the box though.
