Well I'm putting together a shopping list for the Black 1998 LSC. So far I have a 3.800 stall converter, a Dirty Dog separator plate for the valve body, 3:73 gears with Trac/Loc. I'm waiting to see if the long tube headers thing ever happens. But this one I want to keep the exhaust on the quieter side so I was thinking a mid mounted Magnaflow X=Pipe resonater with Genos mufflers in the back. Think that would be quiet enough even with heasders ?? I wasn't planning to do anything with the intake at this time. Next would be a programmer. I unanimously hear SCT but I thought I have heard of some SCT controllers refered to in another name ???? And who for a program ??? :feedback

Sorry if I am mistaken but I thought previously you said you hadn't yet run in the 14's with mods ???

On my best run I was on econo 225 tires as well.. I haven't ran with my nittos yet

why are you going 3.73 over 4.10?
I recently got an xcal2 custom tune by Aaron at Tru Dyno Sports in Conover, NC...I'm completely satisfied

That is part of what I'm asking about your Xcal2 is it SCT ??? PS the 3:73 are because thats what I have and I'm going to make it my DD.

if you're scared of bad mileage, leave the stock gears.

Thanks on the SCT xcal2 info. I defiantly want gears but most of all the Trac/Loc and like I said I have a whole Mark VIII rear end set up and ready to put in with 3:73 gears and Trac/Lock plus a one piece 93 drive shaft.

Definitely. With a steeper gear the shifting pattern will be odd. With 4.10s pre-tune I was on OD at 30 mph. SOTP dyno says about 10-15 ish HP, moreso when its cold out. (It didn't run near this strong last winter). The greatest thing I thought was new way the car shifted. Absolutely amazing the difference the tune made in that dept. Gas mileage stayed the same

Where did that come from? was that built by someone previously or did it come out of a stock Explorer?

Not saying that this is what Don has, but you used to be able to get an aluminum centersection (pumpkin) loaded with 3.73's and a T-Lok straight from FRPP. I have a couple of them myself.

I'd recommend getting a XCal 3 with a tune written for your setup from Don Lasota.

The alternative is to buy an unlocked XCal 2 from somewhere like eBay, then pay a tuner (such as Lasota) to email you a tune file.

Cobra intake swap for sure. With that stall and gears ditch the IMRCs. I'd like to do that still on my 98 for even more top end grunt. Shift high tough guy. :)

xcal3

i used torrie @ fastpartsnetwork, no complaints best price

4.10s
