hi i'm new to the forum and wanted to say hi first off.

i'm having a problem with installing a wood grain shifter to my 2004 LS V8. i read several posts here and searched for several on the web. i have already pulled down the black retainer and unscrewed the two side screws and removed them. the knob moves up about 1cm and then gets stuck. i can't get it off even with all of my strength! any ideas?

According to the last page of The REAL OFFICIAL LINCOLN LS OWNERS GUIDE!!!! stickied above, you're doing it right. Pics are included.

i saw the pics. there's two that show the removal. like i said, it seems stuck and only moves a few centimeters up. i've pulled at it as hard as i can. won't come off. feels like there's a lock/latch that needs to be released.

also those pics are from a prior to 2004 ls. i wouldn't imagine they changed anything but i don't know.

JUST KIDDING!

Seriously, it takes a goodly amount of force to pull off that knob. Try twisting a little as you pull STRAIGHT UP.

yeah i got it. i just needed to know it takes that much force. thanks!
