***Help with a 01 V8 Misfire***

I have an 01 V8 LS, has a misfire, code p0171, P0307. plug holes were filled w/ oil, changed gasket, plugs and coil. when cover was off did notice small piece of chain tensioner plastic in front cover and got it out of there. secondary chain was not loose like in FBird's post. Car still has miss, any thoughts could my chain tensioner be going bad? runs find at speed just idles rough like it has big cams. any help would be appreciated.

You might look into it.

As far as "big cams" that's how others and myself described the cars at idle when the tensioner malfunctioned.

I took it apart tonight, reinspected the secondary cam tensioner and definitely bad, wish i had read checked this forum first. do i need to take the exhaust cam out to change the tensioner??

That is what "Fbird18" did. Seemed to have worked out for him. you might send him a PM and I'm sure he could give you some pointers.
