Help with 2002 V8

Can anyone give me clue on this? Engine starts to runs rough. Advance pulls code says cylinder #4 misfire. Remove all 4 coils and 3 have oil but not #4. Order new valve cover gaskets and replace including spark plugs. Reverse order of coils so #4 coil is on #1 cylinder. Advance pulls code says cylinder #1 misfire. Great, that confirms it's the coil. Install new coil on #1. In park engine will not go over 3,000 rpm and stumbles. When I drive the car the engine runs fine, even goes to redline. Put back in park and the engine stumbles at 3,000 rpm but idles fine. 54,000 miles on car and fuel filter has been changed twice and air filter is clean. This has got me stumped!!!!

With everything I have learned from you folks, hopefully someone has a clue.

That would be the Park/Neutral Rev limiter. It won't let the engine rev over 3k rpm while it isn't in gear.

Thanks for your help. I've never owned a car with a rev limiter, but that is definitely what it is. So, looks like my repairs are complete and the car is back to 100%. I will be putting the car up for sale as my 16 year just got her license and the Lincoln is too much car for a beginner.
