I've been doing brakes for 20 years now and never had this problem. Changed the front pads quickly, no fuss at all. The rear piston does not want to retract. If I turn CCW the piston comes out. If I turn CW it retracts slightly then stops moving, I keep turning and turning and nothing. I'm using some long nosed pliers to turn with, works ok, but no retraction. Brakes themselves work fine, just want to replace pads. Anyone????

You have to compress as you turn. I'd go buy the tool that fits into the slots. I picked mine up at NAPA for less than $20 as I recall.

Get a big C clamp and use that. If you do it right the clamp should also spin the piston as you compress it. Otherwise go buy the tool (bout 10 bucks at most parts store) to turn the piston with. Also make sure the cap is off of the brake fluid reservoir.

I got the tool from Harbor frieght, and it compresses as it turns...best $20 I have spent on a tool, in a long time.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Hey I found the tool at AUTOZONE as a loaner tool. No cost! Use it and bring it back!:D
