help please quick easy question

alrighty tonight i punched it to get to speed on the highway it shaked a little at and then the check engine light came on, it only does it when it is at high rpm's or at about 2 and i dont know whats wrong its like a shake i was thinking misfire but i dont know

Get the code read. It could be several things (air, fuel, or spark), but the code will help narrow it down quite a bit.

if it was transmission wouldnt a check tranny come into the service center? or am i wrong there. thats the only thing im scared of is replacing the tranny.

Why put the cart behore the horse? have the codes pulled, and go from there. No sense in worrying all night if it's the tranny.

Since there were absolutely no details given about the particular LS in question (year, engine size, mileage, color, etc.), its hard to say what the problem is. However, my guess is that its the coils.

I guess it could be the transmission, but your description sounds more like a misfire. Either way, if the CEL came on, then the the PCM threw error messages that will help narrow it down. Without them, you're really just guessing.

So much for this being a quick and easy question. You should probably have the dealer look at it. I'm still guessing coils, but the dealer should be able to tell you for sure. If it is the coils, it may cost several hundred dollars to fix.
