my seatbelt went out so i need to replace the front driver and passenger side. i got a good deal on 2002 seatbelt assemble but i have a 2003 lincoln ls so i was wondering if 2002 seat belt will work on a 2003?? i know there was major changes going from 2002 to 2003 but seatbelt should be the same

On a trying to be helpful note you could call the dealer and see if the part number is the same from year to year.

lol the seatbelt has been out for a while. ever since i got in an accident both seatbelt don't retract, they just stay lose and its getting annoying. i called the dealer and they couldn't help because they said the 2002 seatbelt was discontinued smfh. when i tried to get it repaired they said i had to replace the whole seatbelt assemble which was quoted about $275 a piece. the part number are different but the 2002 and 2003 seatbelt are identical

Just get rid of the seatbelt and seats altogether and get some racing seats with the 4 point harness.

Or beanbags!

the 2002 seatbelts were discontinued but 03 ones were available so that tells me something changed, probably just a spring lol. So much for trying to cross part numbers.

maybe a junkyard could help they have that aftermarket software that tells what matches what and such.

LOl it's on topic that fixes your seatbelt problem and then if you get them now you can then use them for your next car. Then like someone else said get some bean bags for the LS. For real though I say try the 03 belts or try some junkyards you might get lucky

I am required to have a six-point seat belt tied into my roll cage in order to be able to Land Speed race. But let me assure you that putting it on any time I went anywhere got old in a hurry.

Race seats, unless individually fitted at a price of $1K+ are not comfortable for any length of time. Are you trying to turn a Lincoln into a 'Bomber' or Rat Rod? :)

SAFETY BELT PROCEDURE AFTER A COLLISION

WARNING: All safety belt assemblies include retractors, buckles, front seat belt buckle support assemblies (slide bar), if equipped, shoulder belt height adjuster, if equipped, child safety seat tether bracket assemblies, if equipped, and attaching hardware should be inspected after any collision. All belt assemblies should be installed new unless a qualified technician finds the assemblies show no damage and operate correctly. Belt assemblies not in use during a collision should also be inspected. New safety belt assemblies should be installed if either damage or incorrect operation is noted.

NOTE: The driver and front passenger seat belt system (including belt and retractor assembly, buckles, and height adjusters) must be replaced if the vehicle is involved in a collision that results in deployment of the front air bags and safety belt pretensioners.

1. Before installing a new safety belt assembly, the safety belt attaching areas must be inspected for damage and distortion. If the attaching points are damaged and distorted, the sheet metal must be worked back to its original shape and structural integrity.
2. Install the new safety belt(s). Carry out the Functional Test. See: Seat Belt Systems\Testing and Inspection\Component Tests and General Diagnostics
