Help! How do you remove fuel filter (little green clips)??

Help! How do you remove fuel filter without breaking those little green (R) clips?? They look like they are a complete circle inside the retainer.

I have everything apart but can't get the filter off and it's Sunday so can't buy new clips if I break these.

Car is an 04 LS8

check the box for your new filter, usually new clips are in there. At least mine were on the purolator fuel filter I got from pep boys for my LS..

I bought the Motorcraft filter at the dealer and it did not come with clips (filter only).

Those look interesting. I have the plastic ones for fuel line connectors (quick disconnect tools) but they didn't work.

I used those, (cheap plastic ones from Pep Boys), but I had to use two together to get the right size.
