screen facing outwards, or pleats facing inside whichever way you look at it.
Basicly you want the pleated side closest to the maf and the wire screened side facing the direction the air comes from

did that make sense?
 
arrow usually indicates the "direction the air is flowing".
 
It does mean the flow, and it flows to the engine.
 
haha, im sorry people, i thought the dreaded r-clips would be a hint, but i actually think the filter can only go on one way, once i put the filter into the bracket, i realized it had a little extra clip thing on the bracket that fits only on one end of the filter, which was the arrow pointed towards the engine, thanks everyone:)
 
I actually replasced the fuel filter today LOL...

It's amazing that even with 91k miles, the filter still was a motorcraft with a lot code dating to 2000... So the filter had over 90k miles on it.. And I wondered why my mpg was so bad... Wow...

Also painted the calipers since the wonderful rust color was starting to bug me.. Pics as soon as it is washed...
